This is a super example of a Walnut Victorian Inlayed Jewellery Box.

Victorian period Circa1850 - 1900, walnut veneer with the most attractive and intrecate Tunbridge Wear style inlays, matching geometric designs to the cartouch and escutcheon.

The brass lock is fully operational and comes with a steel key that locks with a very satisfying firm click.

Refurbished to a high standard. Original ruched silk panel in lid with brass catch opening to provide a concertina document wallet. Re-lined and professionally upholstered interior in a cerise plush velvet and silk.
The inner tray has several compartments including ring holder section, retractable hooped lifting handles with further storage area underneath.

Overall, this is a very sturdy and practical sized Jewellery Box. Sympathetically restored to maintain the age and aesthetic qualities of the box. The exterior marquetry is intact with some marks to the main body, the inlays are in good condition, the wear present is commensurate with age, use and light historic repairs.
The interior is in very good condition having original and newly refurbished parts.
