A rather special 19th Century German Tramp Art Jewellery Box / Trinket Casket.
Remarkably it still has its original key which is very rare, and the lock works well.
Lovingly handmade with inset black panels of velvet to the body and lid.
Metal decorations to the lid, with script initials to the front B L, and centrally a lovely affectionate quote ‘Aus Liebe’ (Out of Love).
There is one lift out tray that is divided in to three sections.
The build is solid but charmingly crude, internally things are a little…shall I say not square!
Overall a good practical size in nice condition commensurate with age and use. Some tiny losses to the turreted exterior carvings, slight wear to the original velvet, but in good solid condition. The inside has recently been refurbished.
