From the Era of Howard Carter - Brass and Copper Egyptian Style Art Deco Secessionist Double Inkstand Circa 1920's.
The two copper lidded inkwells (with original French glass liners) sit on a very aesthetically pleasing copper repousséd base, flanked to all sides by four brass stylised elongated cat figures.
These stylised items were very popular and of the time reflecting the Egyptian Revival Period, where everything Egyptian became popular due to Howard Carters discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun.
The condition of this C1920's Ink Stand is Fabulous. Both glass inkwells are in very good condition still with traces of the original red and black ink. The wear present to the copper base is what to expect from a used item of this age.
Overall this is a striking piece that displays exceptionally well.
