Featherbanding - A form of decoration found particularly on drawer fronts of the late 17th and 18th centuries, where two high quality woods were placed together with the grain of each running diagonally, to produce a feather or herringbone effect. Featherbanding was used in furniture of exceptional high quality through the period.
Pulvinated - A pulvinated frieze is a convex section of decorative architecture or furniture. Pulvinated friezes were features from the 17th-century, especially employed in interior stone architecture and in high quality furniture.
