Exhibition Quality Victorian Walnut Dressing Table by Lamb of Manchester
Exceptional quality and detail fine Victorian, Walnut dressing table by Lamb of Manchester, having detailed marquetry to the table, drawer mounts and mirror edging. A rectangular bevelled edge mirror plate (with some age related foxing) held by finely carved supports fitted to table top drawer boxes having locks inscribed Lamb Manchester. The table has two large drawers also stamped internally with the makers mark and serial number, fitted on two superb hand carved legs with original porcelain and brass castors, supported with a feature hand carved and turned tapered stretcher highlighted with ebonised detail. In excellent condition throughout, ready for delivery to a special location in your home.
Lamb of Manchester
Founded by James Lamb in the mid Victorian period, Lamb of Manchester were a renowned high quality cabinet maker. Lamb of Manchester became a very well respected high class interior design, decorating and furnishing business operating from Castleford, with their main operational showroom in John Dalton Street, Manchester that was spread over 3 floors, showcasing exceptionally high quality furniture.
The company designed and showcased exhibition quality furniture, first at the Great Exhibition of 1851 at Crystal Palace gaining further international recognition and success winning medals at the London Exhibition in 1862 (sometimes referred to as The International Exhibition of 1862) and the Paris Exhibition in 1867.
