Candle Snuffer - Mrs Gamp from Dickens Novel Martin Chuzzlewit
Late 1800's Sampson Hancock Derby Whiteware Candle Snuffer.
Sairey Gamp the dissolute, drunken nurse whose character features in the Dickens Novel Martin Chuzzlewit.
Blue Derby Potteries mark clearly seen on the side of the snuffer base, and Gamp is hand etched into the bottom. Pencil mark with original price of six shillings is still visible on the base with the potters initials MES .
