Bonheur du Jour - translated from French to English 'daytime delight' is a quaint high quality ladies writing desk that became a popular fine furniture must have fashion item in Paris from the late 18th Century.

This example is a rarer version from circa 1875 that incorporates a sliding trumpet shaped work or sewing box to the underside of the writing desk.
