John Arnesby Brown
Painter of landscapes, especially with cows. Born in Nottingham and studied art there with Andrew McCallum and then with Sir Hubert von Herkomer at his Bushey School of Art, 1889–92.
Brown’s reputation became international, but he concentrated his work on St Ives in Cornwall and Norfolk.
