Crosshatched Leather Victorian Jewellery Casket 1868 - 1895, C19th (Aesthetic Period)
A Black Leather Jewellery Box, crosshatch leather, characterfully embossed with the original owners initials.
Embossed Makers Name Edwards & Jones who operated in Regents Street, London 1860 to 1895
Brass inset rise and fall handle.
Lovely quality with the original Bramah Lock and 2 x Keys. Bramah being a very prestigious lock maker of this period.
Internally it has the original regal violet velvet and silk lining in fabulous condition.
Two removable trays lifting out to provide a larger storage area below.
The top tray is divided as: three central compartments, a ring holder and an outer area that runs consecutively along the back and down both sides for necklaces.
The second tray is divided into three equal areas.

Please do not leave the keys in the box, this Bramah lock is self-locking when pushed down.
The condition of this Victorian Leather Jewellery Box is good , the structure and the Bramah locking mechanism are both sturdy. There is wear and losses to the leather to be expected from 100+ years of use, please see photos. Professionally and sympathetically refurbished throughout.
