19th Century Victorian

Black Leather Fall Front Victorian Writers Box Presented in 1878

£0

A Beautiful Victorian Black Leather Writers Box.

The fall front unlocks to reveal a drawer with original purple velvet lining, paper storage slot and remarkably still has the original holder for the sharpening stone for pencils (no stone).
The top compartment again has the original purple velvet lining pen rest, three compartments with removable lids and an array of various storage slots and compartments.
The lid having the original undamaged multiple ripple pen holder down the centre.
Working lock and key.
Excellent quality brass inset rise and fall handle to the lid.

A beautiful Victorian gift given to someone who must have been held in high regard given the quality.
The base plate to the handle has been engraved:
Presented to G T Kerrick by the Chipping Sodbury Band of Hope 27th March 1878.

The condition is incredibly good given its 100+ year age, the box is solid, the lock works well, and the leather carries light age-related wear to be expected of a used item of this age.
