Italian Leather Jewellery Casket Circa 1860 - 1890
This is quite an unusual and exquisite Italian Leather Jewellery Casket from the late Victorian era.
Wonderful quality gilt leather tooling to all surfaces and with the most amazing, raised cast ormolu tiger mount to the centre of the lid, in fabulous condition.
Original Olive Green velvet lining throughout in lovely condition (two small marks on the base).
One lift out tray with a full length ring holder having the original ribbon lifts.
Good quality working lock with original key.
Additionally, it comes with a rather lovely round celluloid hand mirror with a tigers head mount on the sliding front, it complements the box beautifully (Adding to the history, Somebody over the years has etched an elephant into the back of the mirror which we think is rather cute!).
The overall condition of this beautiful Italian Leather Jewellery Casket is exceptionally good, with the wear to be expected of an antique piece of this age.
