Hornsea Pottery: Swan Lake, Concept Range, Cirrus Pattern Pottery.

A recognised design classic, winning a Design Council Award, and now displays in the 20th Century Design Gallery in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.

Rare Cirrus Pattern – 20th Century Circa 1980/84, no two like pieces are ever the same.

Eight Swan Lake pieces in the Concept Design finished in this amazing Cirrus Pattern. All individual and hand decorated, and all display beautifully together.  These items are usually only found in odd pieces now so to get a collection like this is quite unusual.

Apart from it being beautiful asthetically, It's incredibly practical. If it has a spout it pours properly!! is very tactile, dishwasher and freezer safe, and all items are in fabulous condition.

Oil/Vinegar Bottle with the Original Beech Stopper, H 10 W 10 D 9 cm

This beautiful Cirrus Pattern was only in produced for a limited time because of the complex and costly decorative production method.

Attribution Note from the V & A Web Page: Note dictated by Martin Hunt (19.7.81) on the technique used at Hornsea to decorate the Concept Range in the Cirrus Pattern.
‘The decorative technique consists of an impregnation of the raw clay item in a soluble metal salt, in this case Cobalt Chloride. While still moist the item is splattered with wax from a spray gun, and the wax in preventing the salt solution from drying causes a migration of colour to the edges of each wax drop and then coated with a clear glaze.’
