Fine Quality Tooled Gilt Leather French Casket

This elegant 18th-Century leather casket is a lovely example of French craftsmanship from this period. Boasting a classic and timeless elegance that reflects the characteristic style from the era of Louis XV.

The fine leather is beautifully decorated with gilt embossed detailing all around giving it a luxurious and refined appearance. The silk lined interior additionally adds to the quality and refinement of what must have been a very expensive luxury item of the day.

The leather has marked and faded areas and is now a russet colour. I'm assuming it was once a uniformed cherry red as the fine leather on the base, which is in very good condition. There is wear to the corners and hinge area along the back. The silk interior has slight wear along the hinge, but overall is in good condition. The structure is solid, and still very usable today.

The wear on this lovely French Casket is much better than you would expect for its 200+ years of age.
